Bashley (Rydal) II 223 for 8
Paultons 149 all out
After the early loss of Chris Vaughan skipper Patrick Lewis and James Turner added 66 in 11 overs with Lewis looking in imperious form with some classy cover driving before being surprisingly bowled for 33 off just 30 balls with 7 fours. Jacob Gordon and the ever reliable Turner put on a further 65 with the latter displaying his growing confidence by expanding his shot repertoire against spin before holing out for a well-made 68 off 87 balls including 11 fours and a glorious straight six over the sight screen. Gordon looked untroubled in compiling a stylish 49 before being bowled round his legs by the wily Denney and Sam Stroud once again demonstrated his power hitting by making 29 off 17 balls with 2 sixes as the innings closed on 223 for 8 after 40 overs.
The pacey opening attack of Ben Fletcher and Sam Stroud kept the scoring in check early on which enabled the change bowlers Tom Harris (2 for 18) and Ethan Baker to reap the benefit of some over aggressive shot making with James Turner taking a spectacular catch to remove Hamid (24) despite colliding with Vaughan in the process. Simon Watkins (2 for 13 off 6) bowled faultlessly and when Neil Taylor (2 for 13) had the dangerous Feltham (26) well caught by Achakzai in the deep the home side’s reply petered out. Stroud (2 for 35) returned to have Denney (21) superbly caught one handed by 14 year old Baker who then had Dawes stumped to finish with 2 for 47 as Bashley completed a comfortable 74 run win.
