Bashley travelled to a Havant and had no hesitation in bowling first after winning the toss. Andy Neal kept it very tight at the start conceding only 5 runs from his 4 overs but it was Sammy Laurent that made the early breakthroughs. With the score on 7, Sammy Laurent had Andrew Galliers well caught by Sam Scott at mid-on and then a couple of balls later he bowled the other opener, Graham Burns. After this, Simon Loat (46) and Oliver Jones batted sensibly in tricky conditions to take the score to 63 before the latter was run out for 19. A late flourish from Andrew Ruston (33*) led to Havant posting 140-7 from their 50 overs.
B.O.G – Sammy Laurent 7-1-15-2
In reply, Bashley got off to a positive start before Jay Van Wyk was caught for 9. Simon Morris was then the next man out when he fell for 22 with the score on 39. Tom Jacques and Phil Morris (14) then added a very valuable 57 run partnership before Tom was caught for a well-made 39 off the bowling of Oliver Jones (8-0-25-3). Bashley then lost regular wickets and ended up chasing the total 7 wickets down.
This win means Bashley 2s have started the 2017 season with back to back wins and will look to add a third consecutive victory when they host Alton next week.
