For the final match of the season, 3rd placed Bashley entertained lowly Waterlooville in glorious late summer sunshine. Waterlooville won the toss and elected to bat first but found scoring difficult against James Edmunds and Sammy Laurent. Edmunds was particularly impressive and made early inroads with his opening spell of 2 for 8 from 7 overs. Change bowlers Jason Eede and Sam Scott maintained the pressure with Scott (1 for 8 from 7 overs) reducing Waterlooville to 40 for 3 at the halfway stage of their innings. Connollly attempted to increase the run rate until he was caught off young Sam Presland for 24. Presland (4 for 39) and Jack Ransom (2 for 8) both bowled well to quickly ran through the rest of the Waterlooville batting. A run out in the 41st over ended the Waterlooville innings for a well below par score of just 94.
After tea, Marcus Lewis (21) and Matt Wedge (18) made steady progress but they were then dismissed in quick succession to leave Bashley at 47 for 2.Graham Pardey (24 not out) and Sam Scott (26 not out) both batted well and were always in control to see Bashley home to a comfortable 8 wicket victory with 15 overs to spare.
With 12 wins and 3 losses, Bashley 3rds finished a very enjoyable season in 3rd place in County Division 3, just 0.20 points behind Mudeford 1st team and outside an automatic promotion spot.
