Bashley (Rydal) 3rds 291 for 6
Follands (Hamble) 1st 71 All Out
On another gloriously sunny afternoon, Bashley won the toss and elected to bat first again 10 man Follands.
Bashley found runs hard to come by against the accurate Follands opening bowlers and after ten overs had struggled to 25 for 2. The scoring rate accelerated against the change bowlers as Graham Pardey and Simon Watkins took control until Watkins was bowled for 41. Ryan Taylor was dropped before scoring but then proceeded to punish the Folland’s attack with an array of powerful shots all round the ground. Pardey was bowled for a valuable 34 as the Bashley run rate continued to climb. Taylor by now was in full flow and scoring freely until eventually caught for 71. Thirteen year old debutant Louis Prichard started steadily and then proceeded to show his talent with an impressive range of strokes. Support from Sam Scott (11) and Chris Gates (26 not out) ensured that the momentum was maintained as Bashley reached an imposing 291 for 6 after 45 overs. Prichard (55 not out) reached his half century in the final over of his remarkably mature innings.
Louis Prichard – 55 not out and 1 wicket
After tea, Bashley opening bowler Dan Hart struck in the first over and his excellent 7 over spell (4 for 26) removed the Follands top order. At the end of his spell, Follands were in deep trouble at 61 for 5 with James Edmonds (1 for 36) the other wicket taker. The Bashley spin attack of Watkins (1 for 3), Mills (2 for 7) and Prichard (1 for 2) quickly ran through the rest of the batting. Follands were all out for 71 in the 18th over as Bashley won by 220 runs and moved up to third place in County 3 South.
