Bashley (Rydal) 3rds 186 for 4
Totton & Eling 2nds 184 for 8
Top of the table Bashley lost the toss and against mid table Totton & Eling who elected to bat first. Bashley started without opening bowler Sam Laurent who was delayed by holiday traffic. Totton & Eling found runs hard to come by against an accurate Bashley bowling attack. As they tried to accelerate, wickets fell and they were struggling at 70 for 4 after 21 overs. 14 year old Leo Taylor then came to the crease and showed his promise in a resolute 99 run partnership with Kumo Sharma. They had taken Totton to 168 for 4 in the 42nd over when Taylor was bowled by Ted Bracey (2 for 25) for 55. Sam Laurent (2 for 25) eventually arrived from his marathon road trip and picked up 2 late wickets including the obdurate Sharma for 57. Tom Saunders (1 for 37) also captured a late wicket as Totton finished on 184 for 8 after their 45 overs. Sam Scott (1 for25) and Neil Taylor (1 for 36) were Bashley’s other successful bowlers.
After tea, Bashley lost an early wicket but were soon in control as Saif Achakazai and Tom Saunders built a rapid 79 run partnership. Achakazai was eventually LBW for 50 and Simon Morris caught and bowled for 23. Tom Saunders was caught behind for 55 as Bashley neared their target. Graham Pardey (18 not out) and Sam Scott (9 not out) then saw Bashley home to a seventh consecutive victory with 6 wickets and 11 overs to spare.
Tom Saunders 55 and Saif Achakzai 50
