19 May – week three
Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division II South West
Bashley 5th XI lost to Ringwood I XI by 64 runs
Bashley Vs unbeaten run at the start of the season ground to a halt in the third week as a strong Ringwood side proved too strong.
Losing the toss for the first time this season, Bashley were asked to field and the game started off evenly poised with Dorset bowlers Freya Cutler (1-41) and Alex Avoth (0-14) testing a watchful opening pair. Cutler made the breakthrough and then Bashley further pressed their advantage with the spin of Joel Hood (2-22) removing two batsmen cheaply. The pendulum swung back into Ringwood’s favour with an important partnership between M Roberts (41) and C Seymour (30*). Despite two late wickets from Martin Hayward-Cox (2-17) taking the total for the innings to 182-6.
The Bashley reply got off to a steady start but the run chase faltered with the removal of Paul Kemp (22), Piers Scott (13) and Arno Hattingh (23) who all made starts but couldn’t post a big score for the innings to be built around. With wickets falling at regular intervals, the run rate soon escalated to unreachable levels with only Chloe-Ann Anderson (20*) showing any resistance.
Player of the match: Chloe-Ann Anderson
