Fresh from their rare win last week a youthful Bashley side (6 players 15 or under) took on Suttoners hoping to get that vital win to stave off relegation worries. Starting against only 9 fielders Piers Scott and Peter Stallwood scored quickly before Stallwood was out for 33 with the score on 89, in the 17th over. Alex Avoth joined Scott and the young pair started to run well between the wickets to keep Bash on track for a big score as they reached 120 at the half way point. However after that the pendulum swung Suttoners way as wickets fell regularly. Scott (68), Mark Avoth (31), and a cameo from Oakley Sparshott-Thompson (21 no), took Bashley’s final total to 202 for 9. Looking back the turning point for Suttoners was when Jay Patel arrived, straight from work. He bowled 8 overs and took 3 for 24, including a stunning one handed catch, and then proceeded to hit a 24 ball 50 no to finish off the match. The pick of the Bashley bowlers was Alex Avoth who bowled her 8 overs for just 21 runs and one wicket. The other wicket taker was , 13 year old, George Reid (4-0-15-1) who cleaned bowled the Suttoners opener. Overall a very creditable performance from a young side, who kept Suttoners waiting until the end of the 36th over for their win.
