Bashley Broncos ‘A’ took on Branksome on Sunday in their last game of the indoor league season. Bashley lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Ryan Taylor and Tom O’Sullivan (22) made a very good start to the innings putting on 58 before the latter fell mid-way through the 5th over. From here, Jack Ransom (25 retired not out) and Sam Scott (27 retired not out) added a valuable partnership that kept Bashley heading towards a big total. Bashley then finished their innings very strongly with 64 runs being added in the last 3 overs. This was thanks to Jake Lilley (14 not out) and the impressive Ryan Taylor who struck 4 maximums in the last over to finish on 49 not out. Bashley’s innings finished on a very respectable 176 for 2.
In response, Branksome lost early wickets with both Jake Lilley and Sam Scott taking a wicket each in the first few overs. This left Branksome on 32-2 from 3 overs. Branksome then added 33 runs with the next partnership. This third wicket run out proved to be crucial. Bashley then took 3 wickets in the very next over, thanks to Ryan Taylor taking one wicket and some very good fielding that led to two run outs. Branksome were bowled out for 77.
This impressive end to the season leaves Bashley currently in 2nd place in the top league and guarantees a minimum of a 3rd place finish.
