Bashley took on Poole Town in the Indoor Cup Final on Sunday 23rd April at Hurn Bridge. Bashley lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Bashley got off to a lighting quick start scoring 25 from the first over thanks to Mike O’Sullivan (25 retired not out) striking 2 maximums. Mike and opening partner Simon Morris continued to score quickly, pushing the score to 74 without loss from the first 5 overs. Once both men retired, the runs started to dry up due to some very tight Poole bowling. Jack Ransom made a valuable 25 (retried not out) and a late flurry from Simon Morris (36 retired not out) led to Bashley posting a par score of 140 from their 12 overs.
In reply, Poole started off behind the required run rate due to some very good bowling from Phil Morris and Jason Eede. Poole then began to increase their run rate thanks to some very wise indoor batting. The equation came down to Poole needing 49 from their final 4 overs. During the 9th over, Poole lost their first wicket which fell to bowling of Sam Scott. Jack Ransom then bowled a very tight over leaking just 4 runs but unfortunately, the game ended with Poole Town striking the winning runs with only 1 ball to spare.
We hope that next year we can go one better.
