Hand warmers and long sleeved jumpers were out in force on Saturday when Bashley took on Burridge at the BCG. Bashley lost the toss and were put into bat by the Burridge skipper. Tom Gates, on debut for Bashley, opened up with Veteran leading scorer Thurgood. The pair batted positively and saw off the opening bowlers with a array shots around the ground. Gates was the first to go caught behind for 44 and shortly after the wicket of Thurgood fell for 31 with the score 86-2. Bashley looked to build another partnership with the introduction of another debutant Richard Locke and the new first team skipper Michael porter at the crease. Unfortunately some good bowling prevented this and Bashley found themselves in a spot of bother at 117-6. With the middle order or Jaques, Bailiff and Locke failing to have much of impact Porter took it upon himself to play a captains innings striking the boundaries all around the BCG. Porter backed up by Ridley were able to take the score to 210-7. Porter then fell and Pardoe and Ridley took the final score to 229-6 playing some innovative shots in the final overs.
Bashley took to the field with Lilley (9-2-39-2) striking first, much to the umpires reluctance, followed shortly by Nash (6-2-2-15) taking two quick wickets from his opening spell . The visitors were struggling at 43-4 and in need of a partnership. Some tight bowling from Bailiff’s opening spell put the visitors even further behind the required run rate which allowed Pardoe to run in with real pace and conviction managing to get some real pace and carry from a mid-April wicket. Pardoe finished with figures of 6-1-23-1. The pick of the bowlers however was Maccoochi (7-3-12-2) again on debut. The left arm spinner bowled with control and variation looked very challenging for the Burridge lower order. The visitors failed to match the required run rate throughout there innings and found themselves losing regular wickets which in the end left the visitors 52 runs short of Bashley’s target.    Saturday 30th of April, Bashley host Surrey team Normandy at the BCG for a 11:30 start.
