Straight off the back of the Ultimate Super Saturday for the club, our U19s were in action again for the Vitality U19 Hampshire T20 Cup finals day at Basingstoke CC on Bank Holiday Monday. Drawn in the first semi-final starting at 10am against Hook & Newnham Basics, the lads faced an early start and a not-so-ideal Bank holiday journey!
Winning the toss they elected to bat and posted a respectable score of 148/7 in their 20 overs, with notable scores from Patrick Lewis ( 46) and George Pardoe ( 47)
In reply, Hook & Newnham Basics set off rapidly in the first couple of overs, and although wickets came for G. Pardoe and E. Baker, strong batting performances and missed opportunities in the field saw Hook over the line, finishing 153/3 in the final over of the innings…. and later crowned 2019 Hampshire U19 T20 champions after the final later in the day.
So it was not to be this year for our U19s, but as a squad who range in age from 13-18 years, and who are all regular members of the senior club teams, they should be very proud of their achievements again this year, and continue to prove that the future of our club is in good hands
Finals Day T20 Squad: P. Lewis ( C & Wk), G. Pardoe, K. Laurent, S. Achakzai, J. Gaunt, T. Hayward-Cox, D. Hart, J. Harris, S. Presland, L. Pritchard & E. Baker.
