Bashley’s U15 squad clinched an unexpected win from the “Jaws of Defeat” on Sunday morning in a nail-biting finish and victory on the last ball of the match.
Bashley had started so strongly in the field, restricting Sway to a total of 86/6 in 18 overs. Sway’s opener T. Burton batted confidently to retire on 42, but the remainder of the line-up struggled to find the runs. Wickets came for Rosie White ( 2-27), J. Hood ( an impressive 2-1), G. Drummond and J. Yapp
In reply,  with 2 wickets falling to Sway’s T. Burton in the first over alone, Bashley’s batsmen struggled to find their form. Enter the Captain at No5, C. Davey who steadied the ship with an impressive 30, before falling finally to Sarah Allport’s bowling. The batting total edged nearer but it seemed too late as the final over approached. Chloe-Ann Anderson batting at No8 with G. Drummond held her nerve alongside shear determination – with 2 runs required from the final ball to tie the match, Chloe-Ann saw the chance for a 3rd run to clinch the win ( and finish 22 not out) – to the delight of the whole team
A great match, with great team spirit on both sides – and an absolute delight to see the Girls playing in both teams and having such an impact on the match
