Bashley 3rds made the short trip to Sway to open up the 2022 season. Sway won the toss and elected to bat first. Jack Griffiths (9-0-43-2) took 2 early wickets to reduce Sway to 35-2. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals during the innings but opener William Mallard remained at the crease and scored 50 off 96 balls. Once Neil Taylor removed Mallard with the score on 143-7, Ed Wright started to score quicker and made a speedy 51 from 52 balls. Eventually, Sway were all out for 207 with the wickets shared between Griffiths, Pennycate (9-2-28-2), Parsons (9-2-35-2), Scott (9-0-43-2) and one each for Neil Taylor and Craig Dibden.
In response, Bashley got off to the worst possible start losing both openers for 0. Sam Nailor bowled his 9 overs straight through and returned figures of 9-0-27-3 which put Sway on the front foot. Jack Harris (19), Darren Britton (18), Sam Scott (20) and Neil Taylor (28) all made starts but with no player making a sizable score, Bashley were all out for 143 with Ed Wright taking the final 3 wickets to return figures of 8.3-0-23-3.
Next up Bashley 3s welcome Locks Heath to the BCG.
